Dr Jennifer Marohasy: Redefining Environmentalism The Melbourne Dialogues
7th December, 2004 - 7th December, 2004
Location: Mallesons Stephen Jaques
Level 28, Rialto Tower
525 Collins Street, Melbourne
At the last election, the Australian Greens failed to capitalize on the implosion of the Democrats and have lost their power in the Senate. But they aren't going to go away. Environmentalism is only likely to grow as a moral cause of choice for the comfortable urban middle class. If environmentalism is to deliver tangible environmental benefits, it will need to be redefined in accordance with how natural systems actually operate and to embrace, rather than reject, technological innovation.
