Kevin Donnelly: Outcomes Based Education. Public Lecture, 20 June at UWA
20th June, 2006 - 20th June, 2006
Location: Social Sciences Lecture Theatre, University of Western Australia, Crawley
Outcomes Based Education has been surrounded by controversy since its adoption in Western Australia, especially at years 11 and 12. Over the last 12 months or so, barely a week has gone by without OBE being subjected to media scrutiny and public debate. Dr Kevin Donnelly will outline the case against outcomes based education and detail why OBE is flawed and educationally unsound. A number of speakers, both for and against OBE, will respond. There will also be time for questions from the audience.
Kevin Donnelly is executive Director of Melbourne-based Education Strategies, and education commentator for The Australian newspaper. Kevin taught in secondary schools for 12 years and has completed a number of national and international projects benchmarking school curriculum. In 2004, Kevin was Chief of Staff to Kevin Andrews, the federal Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations.
