The Macquarie Marshes: An Ecological History
OCCASIONAL PAPER
Graziers like water, and the cheaper it is, the better. Environmentalists thrive on crises - without environmental problems there can be no environmental crusades. In the Macquarie Marshes a relationship has formed with some graziers diverting environmental flows to their own uses, creating a perceived "crisis" in native bird populations, leading to them receiving even more water, but with zero effect on the "crisis".
